Wild Bird Petroglyphs in Phippsburg, Maine

A collection of petroglyphs inspired by the local environment has been created in the woods of Phippsburg, Maine, near the Center Ponds Trailhead.

The carvings, located on the Phippsburg Land Trust trails, feature photorealistic, life-sized images of native birds such as the great blue heron, cardinal, tree swallow, thrush, and loon.

Some carvings depict animals interacting, like birds chasing dragonflies or geese taking flight.

The artist, Kevin, also includes recurring motifs like a Mars helicopter and a Zumwalt destroyer, which are identifiable across his different sites.
