iPhone Prices Vary Globally, US Remains Cheapest

New iPhone models are launched globally, but prices differ significantly across markets, with the U.S. offering the most affordable rates.

The iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max are priced higher in all major international markets compared to the U.S., according to Counterpoint Research. Turkey will see the highest prices, nearly double the U.S. cost, due to local taxes. India, a significant market and manufacturing hub for Apple, will experience prices 30% to 40% higher than in the U.S.

These higher prices in India are attributed to the fact that initial sales of the new foldable model Duo will not be manufactured locally. Imported units face full import duties, GST, and the impact of a weaker rupee.

The U.S. consistently offers the most affordable prices for new iPhones. The UAE is the second-cheapest market, benefiting from a low 5% value-added tax and no other taxes.

China and Korea have lower prices due to different tax rates and strong local market competition from brands like Huawei, Oppo, Vivo, and Samsung.

Even iPhones assembled in India have a high import dependence for components, with only 18% to 20% sourced domestically. Pro models show even greater import reliance.

As the share of locally sourced components in India increases, future price hikes are expected to be more gradual.

Previously, Apple's former CEO warned of price increases due to chip shortages. Following a recent launch event, prices for older iPhone models rose by 21% in the U.S. and up to 41% in India.
