Vauxhall Updates Griffin Logo, Removes Flag

British carmaker Vauxhall has revealed a redesigned griffin emblem, simplifying its appearance and removing the flag element for the first time in its 121-year history.

The 13th iteration of the logo, which has featured a griffin since 1915, further streamlines the design introduced in 2020. The griffin has been made more angular, with simplified neck hair and a closed beak.

For the first time, the flag depicting the letter 'V' has been removed. Vauxhall design vice-president Mark Adams stated the goal was to retain essential elements while streamlining for future electrified vehicles.

The revamped logo will debut next month at the Paris Motor Show on the Vauxhall STX Concept and will be applied to all future production models.

The simplified design is intended to be clearer and easier to identify when illuminated on electric vehicles, aligning with the brand's "bold and pure design language."

The original griffin logo was created by Harry Varley in 1915, inspired by the coat of arms of Sir Falkes de Bréauté, a historical owner of the land where the company was founded.

The rebrand will be rolled out starting next year. Other manufacturers, like Bentley, have also recently updated their logos.
