Tomas & Katrien House by Atelier Vens Vanbelle

A new residential project in Belgium designed to blend with its surroundings.

The house is designed as a sober and simple volume, evoking the appearance of an old atelier or a small-scale classic industrial building.

It is constructed using characterful bricks, intended to give the impression that the building has always been present.

This design approach aims to create an interesting dialogue with the existing neighboring buildings, including a blind facade.

The project questions the notion of new construction by making the building appear as if it has always been there.

The project area is 240 m² and is expected to be completed in 2025.

Key collaborators include Dries Vens and Maarten Vanbelle as lead architects, and Denkbar for structural engineering and consulting.

The primary manufacturer mentioned is Wienerberger.
