Ceramic Sculptures Evoke Puglia's Landscapes Through Scent
Artist Coco Brun's installation, "Landscape Memories," uses three ceramic sculptures to diffuse distinct fragrances inspired by the coastal region of Puglia, Italy.

The sculptures are shaped like caves and geological formations, with surface patterns derived from 3D scans of Puglian caves. Ceramic extrusion and a programmed printing process create layered surfaces, with visible irregularities from the clay's behavior during firing.
Each sculpture is designed to release a unique scent: Marino (sea), Terra (earth), and Bosco (vegetation), developed with perfumer Laurène Sourdillon. These fragrances are diffused using integrated ORB devices.
When experienced together, the three scents overlap to create a fourth, emergent olfactory impression that shifts based on environmental factors and visitor position.
The installation was presented at the Lake Como Design Festival 2026 and is planned for further development with new works in 2027.
