DIY Machine Creates 35mm Paper "Film"

A new 3D-printed device allows users to create their own 35mm-style photographic paper strips, complete with sprocket holes, for use in cameras.

The machine perforates photographic paper, producing strips that can be shot in a camera. It features a 3D-printed mechanism that feeds the paper through punches, creating circular sprocket holes using specially ground drill bits.

A hand crank or cordless drill powers a gear system that moves the punches, while a rubber roller advances the paper. The creator also plans to release a 3D-printable slitter for making 35mm paper strips.

Users can develop the exposed paper strips using standard print development processes. The project is available for free via the creator's Ko-Fi page.
