Sophie Adenot Completes Third Spacewalk

European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Sophie Adenot and NASA astronaut Jessica Meir have successfully completed their third joint spacewalk, designated US EVA-99. This marks Adenot's third spacewalk and the 33rd conducted by a European astronaut.

The 6-hour, 49-minute extravehicular activity (EVA) involved several maintenance tasks. Adenot replaced a faulty spacecraft navigational aid and collected samples for the MicroOrganisms experiment. Meir replaced a high-definition camera and began preparations for a future upgrade on the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer.

During the spacewalk, Adenot also installed jumper cables to improve data relay capabilities. The MicroOrganisms experiment aims to study the spread of microorganisms released from the station's life-support vents.

With this EVA, Adenot has accumulated 19 hours and 42 minutes of spacewalking time over three EVAs in 15 days. EVA-99 was the 284th spacewalk supporting space station assembly, maintenance, and upgrades.
