RP2350 Achieves 1080p Video Output

A new breakthrough allows a Raspberry Pi RP2350 microcontroller to generate 1080p video, surpassing the previous 720p limit for this class of device.

Previously, microcontrollers like the Raspberry Pi Pico could output up to 720p. The RP2350, being faster, was pushed to 372 MHz via overclocking to achieve 1080p.

Due to space constraints for a framebuffer, the video is generated scanline by scanline, a method reminiscent of 1980s computers.

This 1080p capability is part of a project called TVtop, a board game where the game board displays on a TV and players interact via Wi-Fi using their phones. An ESP32 is also included for Wi-Fi functionality, separate from the video output hack.

This development opens possibilities for future projects utilizing higher video resolutions from microcontrollers.
