The Quilters Hall of Fame in Marion, Indiana

Marion, Indiana, is home to the Quilters Hall of Fame, dedicated to Marie Webster, a pioneering quilter and designer.

Marie Webster, born in 1859, was a prominent figure in quilting from 1911 to 1921. Her quilt patterns were published in Ladies' Home Journal, and she managed a mail-order business, authored a book, and judged competitions. Webster was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1991.

A general guideline for quilt design is the "Rule of 7," suggesting the use of seven different fabrics, ranging from large prints to smaller accents.

The Hall of Fame is housed in the Marie Webster House, built in 1902 and decorated in Victorian and Arts and Crafts styles. Webster lived there until 1942.
