Hera Mission Arrives at Double Asteroid System

ESA's Hera mission, accompanied by two CubeSats, Milani and Juventas, has reached the Didymos double asteroid system. This system is representative of potentially hazardous asteroids.

Hera and its CubeSat companions are on a mission to explore Didymos and Dimorphos, the first celestial body whose orbit was altered by human intervention. The mission aims to study this type of asteroid, which is similar to thousands posing an impact risk to Earth.

Upon arrival after a two-year journey, the Hera spacecraft and its small satellite assistants, Milani and Juventas, will begin their close-up examination of the asteroids. The mission will detail how the CubeSats will separate from Hera to conduct their individual investigations.
