European Water Academy Launched to Boost Water Resilience

Europe faces a water crisis due to climate change, pollution, and infrastructure issues. To address this, the European Commission has launched the European Water Academy, aiming to bridge knowledge gaps and foster collaboration for a water-resilient future.

The Academy functions as a network of networks, connecting knowledge generators with practitioners. It involves public authorities, universities, water professionals, research organizations, utilities, industry, and professional associations to develop holistic solutions.

Eight initial partner organizations, the 'First Champions,' will offer high-quality training in various languages. These courses will cover topics like wastewater treatment, leak detection, pipe installation, and drinking water production.

These champions are committed to promoting knowledge exchange across the entire water value chain, from research to implementation.

The launch signifies the beginning of a European network focused on improving water management. The first champions will soon announce upcoming training activities and their schedules.

Prior to the Academy's launch, the Water Resilience Stakeholder Platform held its first meeting to guide the Commission's strategy implementation.

Additionally, the Zero Pollution Stakeholder Platform will relaunch to support the Zero Pollution Action Plan, as part of broader stakeholder consultations in September.
