Thailand Flood Death Toll Reaches 31 Amidst New Rain Warnings
Thai authorities have issued warnings for additional rain and flash flooding as the death toll from recent widespread floods has climbed to 31 since mid-September.

The Thailand Meteorological Department forecasts thunderstorms, strong winds, and heavy rain across much of upper Thailand from Monday through Wednesday, raising concerns of flash flooding, especially in low-lying areas. Heavy rains are also anticipated in parts of the central, eastern, and southern regions, including Bangkok, over the weekend.
Last week, Bangkok experienced significant inundation and evacuations due to torrential rain, though conditions have largely improved with floodwaters receding from most areas. City officials are implementing measures such as draining canals and deploying additional water pumps to mitigate future flooding risks.
Nationwide, over 3.5 million people are still affected by the floods, with 31 fatalities reported across eight provinces, including four in Bangkok. The Thai government has allocated over 4.1 billion baht (approximately $122 million) in emergency funds for flood recovery efforts.
