Tamagotchi reborn as a tiny playable ring for its 30th birthday

To celebrate its 30th anniversary, Bandai has released a miniature wearable Tamagotchi ring, the company's smallest virtual pet to date.

The playable ring measures 28 millimeters long, almost half the size of the original 1996 Tamagotchi. It features a 0.56-inch full-color screen and an egg-shaped case available in gold, silver, or pearlescent pink, designed to function as jewelry. Development focused on simplifying the design to use only 64 components, down from 116 in last year's Tamagotchi Paradise.

Due to its small size, the ring lacks an integrated USB port and is charged via an accompanying case. It is operated by two side buttons, allowing users to hatch, raise, feed, and care for their digital pet. The clear plastic strap is available in ring sizes 10 and 14, with a spacer for adjustable fit.

The Tamagotchi ring, exclusively available in Japan, will feature 30 characters from the past 30 years, plus a secret bonus egg. This release aligns with a recent resurgence of nostalgic 90s gadgets, including digital cameras and CDs.
