New Book Celebrates Fungi with Over 200 Works

Phaidon is releasing a new book, "Fungi: The World of Mushrooms," on October 15, showcasing the diversity and creative potential of mycology through more than 200 images and objects.

The book spans over 200 pages and several millennia, featuring a wide range of imagery from ancient history to contemporary art.

Included are photographs of uncanny costumes by Riitta Ikonen and Anni Koponen, delicate illustrations by Hilma af Klint, and Carsten Höller’s installation of suspended toadstools.

Other featured works include FoldHaus Collective's interactive "Shrumen Lumen" installation, a 400–250 BCE mushroom stone, and Chris Ritson's "Mushroom Picture" made with live fungus.
