SketchUp Summit to Highlight AI and Reality Capture in Design
Trimble SketchUp's 3D Basecamp Summit in Las Vegas will explore advancements in AI and reality capture technologies and their impact on architectural and design workflows.

The summit, part of Trimble Dimensions, will run from November 9-11 at The Venetian Resort. It will focus on integrating digital design tools with physical construction sites through workshops, technical sessions, and expert talks.
Key themes include generative AI for automating modeling tasks and converting sketches/images into 3D geometry using natural language prompts.
The event will also cover reality capture techniques like scan-to-BIM, which uses technologies such as LiDAR to create digital models of existing structures for integration with architectural designs.
Discussions will emphasize seamless data flow between building sites and design studios, avoiding information silos.
The program also addresses software interoperability and customization through extensions and coding.
Speakers include interior designer Tola Ojuolape, Jason Li of M Moser, and urban planner Devin Lavigne. A panel moderated by Dezeen's Benedict Hobson will discuss digital tools in commercial and retail design.
The summit will also host the SketchUp Ascent Competition for students and educators. SketchUp is a 3D modeling platform owned by Trimble.
