Repairing a Damaged Pin Grid Array CPU Pin
A recent repair attempt focused on a damaged pin on a Pin Grid Array (PGA) processor, a packaging type previously common in CPUs like those for the AMD AM4 socket.

The repair involved a Pentium III CPU where the pad for an important pin was destroyed, unlike simpler breaks at the solder joint. The process began with rebuilding the pad using solder mask and solder.
Celeron CPUs from the PIII era, due to their large and few pins, were used as practice subjects for PGA repair. The data pad and pin in this case were successfully repaired.
The repaired CPU was tested and found to run overclocked at 1.6 GHz, outperforming contemporary Pentium 4 and AMD Athlon processors.
