Police to broadcast voice of suspect in Odido hack on Opsporing Verzocht
This evening, the Dutch police will broadcast the voice of a suspect in the Odido hack on the TV program Opsporing Verzocht. The voice was recorded during a phone call in which the suspect phished the customer service.

The police suspect that the man, who speaks Dutch well, is a Dutchman. The voice can be heard on September 7 at 21.15 o'clock on NPO 2. Witnesses who recognize the voice can provide information via politie.nl/odido.
The man is suspected of involvement in the large-scale Odido hack from early February, in which millions of customer records were stolen through social engineering. He posed as an IT employee of Odido to the customer service to steal two-factor authentication codes, which hackers used to gain access to the Salesforce environment and steal customer data.
The police have had the audio fragments since July and called on the caller to report themselves at the time, which did not happen. Thomas Aling of the National Operations and Interventions Unit emphasizes that it is not an AI voice and that the man has distinctive vocal characteristics that could make him recognizable. He also appears to have IT knowledge, judging by his use of specific jargon.
