Retro-futurist print shop built with plywood and steel in Tbilisi factory

A former Soviet industrial space in Tbilisi's Fabrika has been transformed into the JPG Print Shop, a contemporary environment for graphic design and urban culture.

Designed by Sandro Kvirikadze, the space introduces a new architectural layer using plywood structures and stainless steel, blending industrial history with modern creative culture. The shop combines graphic design, fashion, and on-site customization, allowing visitors to print designs onto garments.

The interior preserves traces of the original industrial environment, with rigid geometric plywood structures contrasting with stainless steel surfaces. Structural elements are integrated as shelving and hanging systems, organizing the space.

A key feature is a nearly three-meter-tall mirror composed of three movable panels. This reflective element alters spatial perception, creating visual continuity or dynamic transformation depending on its configuration.

The design draws from retro-futurism, reinterpreting historical forms with contemporary materials and functions. The geometry of the wooden structures and panel shapes reference traditional principles, executed with modern construction.
