PS5 Emulation Projects Target PS2 and Xbox Games
Jailbroken PlayStation 5 consoles are becoming capable of running emulators for older gaming systems, including the PlayStation 2 and original Xbox.

Projects like PS5X2 aim to bring PlayStation 2 emulation to the PS5, utilizing a port of the PCSX2 emulator with GPU acceleration via Vulkan. Some games reportedly run at full speed, even at higher resolutions.
The XPSemu project, based on the xemu Xbox emulator, has reached an Alpha stage with limited game compatibility, though Halo 2 is noted to perform well.
Additionally, efforts are underway to port Wine to the PS5 as 'PS5 Proton,' potentially enabling Windows games to run on the console, though this project has no public releases yet.
A limitation for these emulators is the current inability to play games directly from original DVDs, requiring users to store game disc images on the PS5's SSD.
