Patina House Design Explores Time Through Materials

Patina House, designed by 182 DESIGN, is an architectural project in Erode, India, set for completion in 2026. The design emphasizes the passage of time through its use of materials.

The project, spanning 370 m², prioritizes materials, craft, and use over form to shape the home's experience. Lead Architect Lokesh PB and his team aimed to create a dwelling that evolves with its environment.

The house features a stone envelope designed to weather and change with exposure to the elements. A curtain of hanging plants is incorporated to create a living patina, softening the building's volume over time.
