Poké Ball Hotel Opens in Japan

A collaboration between Pokémon Sleep and NOT A HOTEL has transformed the iconic Poké Ball into a fully inhabitable hotel structure located in Hokkaido, Japan.

The hotel is designed to offer a unique hospitality experience, drawing inspiration from the fictional concept of Poké Balls as comfortable resting places for Pokémon. The scaled-up version aims to provide a serene environment for human guests, focusing on calm and comfort.

This initiative aligns with the mobile game Pokémon Sleep, which encourages healthier sleeping habits by tracking rest. The hotel's design emphasizes a good night's sleep through its architecture and integrated technology.

The Poké Ball-Themed Hotel will not be available through standard booking platforms. Instead, stays will be offered via a limited campaign to selected participants, making it a one-off experience.

NOT A HOTEL, a Japanese hospitality brand founded in 2020, specializes in distinctive, design-led residences. This project represents their most pop-cultural venture to date, converting a recognizable image into a functional retreat.

The spherical structure features a glossy red exterior mimicking the Poké Ball. Inside, a circular monitor above the bed displays Pokémon imagery, and a curved window opens the compact interior towards the surrounding landscape. The sleeping area includes a circular bed for up to two guests.
