Côte d’Ivoire Joins Artemis Accords

Côte d’Ivoire has become the 75th nation to sign the Artemis Accords, an international agreement promoting peaceful space exploration.

The signing ceremony took place in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, with NASA’s Deputy Administrator Matt Anderson and Côte d’Ivoire’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Adama Diawara in attendance. This expands existing cooperation between the U.S. and Côte d’Ivoire into space exploration.

Côte d’Ivoire established its Space Agency in 2025 and has collaborated with NASA since 2019 on Earth observation and geodesy, improving geodetic networks and measurement techniques.

The Artemis Accords, established in 2020, outline principles for lunar exploration, including transparency, safety, and mutual assistance. Signatory nations commit to peaceful exploration, sharing scientific data, and preserving historical sites.
