NASA Awards SpaceX Three Additional ISS Crew Flights

NASA has awarded SpaceX three more missions to the International Space Station (ISS) under its Commercial Crew Transportation Capability (CCtCap) contract, valued at $946 million.

This contract modification increases SpaceX's total missions to 17, ensuring continued access to the ISS with two commercial partners. The award covers ground, launch, in-orbit, and return operations, along with cargo transport and a lifeboat capability.

The contract's performance period extends through 2030, bringing the total CCtCap contract value with SpaceX to $5.92 billion. This follows NASA's notice of intent in May to purchase these additional missions.

NASA awarded the initial CCtCap contracts to Boeing and SpaceX in 2014. SpaceX was certified for crew transportation by NASA in November 2020.

SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft and Falcon 9 rocket are used to transport up to four astronauts and critical cargo to the ISS. The company's Crew-12 mission is currently docked to the station.
