NASA Launches New Science Initiatives
NASA is introducing two new science and technology initiatives aimed at enhancing scientific understanding and accelerating innovation for future space endeavors. These programs were announced in conjunction with the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy’s “Golden Age Summit.”

One initiative establishes a coordinated metascience effort within NASA’s Science Mission Directorate. This program seeks to improve the reliability, efficiency, and transparency of the agency's scientific practices. As part of this, NASA will increase its use of dual anonymous peer review to ensure proposals are judged solely on their scientific merit, promoting fairness and supporting novel research ideas.
The second initiative will support 10 Genesis Mission Fellows. These are doctoral students with expertise in super intelligence (SI) and science or engineering. The fellows will conduct research at NASA laboratories, contributing to SI-enabled scientific discovery and working directly on NASA mission areas. This fellowship is modeled after NASA's existing Future Investigators in NASA Earth and Space Science and Technology program.
