Brooklyn Residential Building Features Multi-Colored Brick Facade

An eight-story residential development in Brooklyn's Boerum Hill neighborhood, designed by NA Design Studio, showcases a facade wrapped in multi-colored, earth-toned bricks supplied by Glen-Gery.

The building, located at 540 Atlantic Avenue, utilizes Danish bricks from Glen-Gery's Cushwa Series, featuring red, beige, and subtle grey tones with a sand finish. The brick facade employs a vertical running bond layout and a protruding horizontal pattern.

The construction involves laying bricks on insulation boards attached to the concrete structure. The bricks frame floor-to-ceiling windows up to the fifth story and were molded using sand, resulting in varied textures and colors.

Above the fifth floor, the design incorporates symmetrical stepped setbacks, creating outdoor terraces for residents. The project demonstrates the application of modern masonry in urban settings.

Glen-Gery offers a wide range of over 600 brick products. Other recent projects using their materials include a Maryland high-rise, a New Jersey residence, and a New York City mixed-use building.
