MVRDV designs modular concrete street furniture
Architecture studio MVRDV has designed the Barcode collection for manufacturer Escofet, featuring modular concrete street furniture intended to encourage public interaction and adaptation.

The collection comprises three basic elements: steps (Tribune), slopes (Dune), and a table with benches (Desk). These can be combined in various configurations to create different urban topographies.
MVRDV aims for the furniture to be occupied in "unexpected ways," allowing citizens to appropriate urban infrastructure creatively.
The modules are available in eight concrete colors and can be adapted with add-ons like planters.
They share the same height and width, enabling them to form continuous surfaces or compact arrangements.
MVRDV suggests using the elements in long lines or grouped into "islands," offering numerous combination possibilities.
Previous MVRDV street furniture projects include seating in Bangkok and play areas in Mumbai.
