The Motspråk project by PEYTIL and Eitil Arbenz Thorén transforms a plywood painting into a functional chair, exploring the shift from art to object.

Developed during Thorén’s studies at Konstfack in Stockholm, the project utilizes plywood for its layered structure and adaptability. The material's natural grain, knots, and irregularities are integrated into the artwork, becoming visual elements rather than flaws.

The process involves cutting and reassembling the painted plywood, allowing the material's inherent characteristics to influence both the painted surface and the final chair design. This approach treats the spruce material as an active participant in the creative development.
