Apple Unveils iPhone Duo: A Foldable Smartphone

Apple has introduced its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, featuring a dual-screen design that transitions from a compact phone to a larger display.

The iPhone Duo combines a 5.4-inch outer screen with a 7.6-inch inner display. Both screens maintain the same proportions, allowing content to flow seamlessly. The inner display features a nano-textured surface to reduce glare and soften the crease, with the FaceTime camera hidden beneath. Apple Pencil support is planned.

The device's titanium hinge has over 100 components for smooth motion. The folding screen uses layers of glass and polymer that slide past each other. The iPhone Duo is available in Star White and Night Sky, with Touch ID in the side button.

The foldable design enhances camera use. The outer display acts as a live preview for subjects when using the rear camera, enabling higher-resolution selfies. Features like Smart Take and Kid Cue aid photo capture. The phone can also prop itself up for video calls.

Running iOS 27, the iPhone Duo treats the larger screen as a workspace. It supports two Home Screen pages and Split View apps. The interface adapts as the device is opened or closed. StandBy mode can function on either display.

The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999. Pre-orders open October 16th, 2026, with availability beginning October 23rd, 2026.
