Lasvit's Herbarium Chandelier Preserves Flowers in Glass

Czech lighting company Lasvit has created a chandelier named Herbarium for a Napa Valley home, embedding dried flowers and plants within hand-blown glass to capture their forms.

The Herbarium installation features dozens of individually crafted glass pieces suspended at varying heights. Each piece was made by placing organic material beneath molten glass, which consumed the material while leaving its impression within the crystal.

Lasvit's chief designer, Mária Čulenová, stated the aim was to capture the surrounding wilderness, allowing people to take home a preserved piece of the landscape.

The chandelier is centrally located in the home's double-height living room, interacting with natural and artificial light to cast irregular shadows.

The design echoes the natural vegetation of Napa Valley, including vineyards and wildflowers, visible from the residence.

Herbarium is part of Lasvit Icons, a collection that uses handcrafted components adaptable for various interior spaces, from homes to larger architectural projects.
