Lasvit's Herbarium: Botanical Textures Imprinted in Crystal Lighting

Lasvit has created a custom lighting sculpture, the Herbarium, for a private residence in Napa Valley, California. The fixture incorporates hand-picked botanicals preserved within Bohemian crystal.

The Herbarium sculpture features artisans pouring molten glass over flora, imprinting botanical textures directly into crystal pendants. This technique captures the wilderness surrounding Lasvit's glassworks in North Bohemia.

Designed by Mária Čulenová, the modular lighting concept brings a piece of the Czech countryside into private spaces as part of the Lasvit Icons series. The design house blends traditional hand-blown glassmaking with contemporary collaborations.

The flexible modular system allows for custom lighting configurations in both private residences and large architectural projects. Each crystal element is handcrafted in North Bohemia, preserving centuries-old Czech glassmaking traditions.

As daylight changes, the Herbarium lamp casts dynamic light and shadow patterns, with sunlight filtering through the crystal pendants to highlight the imprinted leaf and petal veins.

When illuminated at dusk, the installation provides a warm, tactile glow that connects the interior with the surrounding landscape. The design pays tribute to natural botanical forms while preserving traditional craftsmanship.
