Karimoku Transforms Tokyo Showroom into an Imaginary Japanese Inn

Furniture brand Karimoku has unveiled "Oyado Mas," an exhibition at its Tokyo Commons showroom designed to evoke the atmosphere of a traditional Japanese inn, showcasing furniture and accessories from its Mas label.

The exhibition features furniture by Mas, which specializes in products made from Japanese woods, aiming to embody 'New Japanese Comfort' through materials and woodworking techniques.

Visitors enter through a 'noren' into a reception area that doubles as a shop selling smaller exhibition pieces and includes a lounge.

The showroom is divided into a guestroom space, complete with bedroom and living areas, designed to convey comfort and hospitality.

Oyado Mas also incorporates other Japanese brands, including lighting, washi paper, tableware, candles, and bedding, aiming for a holistic experience.

The exhibition serves as a platform to present new items such as a fragrance, a spoon, and Mas' WK Stool, combining objects within the 'oyado' experience.

Participating brands were selected based on previous collaborations and shared values, particularly those exhibited together at Copenhagen's 3 Days of Design.

Oyado Mas is open at Karimoku Commons Tokyo from September 19 to October 20.
