Jony Ive Designs Moncler Collection Inspired by New York

Designer Jony Ive's studio, LoveFrom, has created a new collection for Moncler, featuring New York-themed symbols and a modular jacket design.

The collection centers on the Moncore down-filled jacket, which can be customized with three interchangeable outer layers: a parka, poncho, and field jacket. These layers attach to the base jacket using a magnetic Duo Button, originally designed by Ive.

The garments are made from recycled nylon in a soft beige color, with yarn-dyed fibers providing a matte finish. Moncler uses extra-wide looms to cut each piece from a single fabric panel.

To celebrate Moncler's new flagship store in New York, the collection includes limited-edition patches designed by Ive. These patches feature New York motifs such as a yellow taxi, a guitar case, a drum set, an apple, a vinyl record, and a bear paw print, alongside a bear climbing the Empire State Building.

The collection will launch exclusively at Moncler's New York store before a global release. Packaging includes a set of nine New York-themed postcards.

Ive described his collaboration with Moncler CEO Remo Ruffini as inspiring, highlighting Ruffini's understanding of design, culture, and place.

Ruffini stated that working with Ive is an experience that prioritizes love, friendship, and respect, enabling creativity.
