Jaguar Type 01: New Electric Grand Tourer Unveiled
Jaguar has revealed the Type 01, its first production model in a new electric era. This four-door grand tourer is designed, engineered, and built in the UK on Jaguar's dedicated Electric Architecture (JEA).

The Type 01 features a long bonnet, low roofline, and stretched silhouette, recalling heritage models like the E-type and XJS while establishing a new visual language for Jaguar's electric vehicles. Its design emphasizes aerodynamic efficiency and clean, elongated surfaces.
Underpinning the vehicle is an 850-volt electrical architecture. The Type 01 is reported to produce over 1,000PS and aims for a 400-mile EPA range, with the capability to gain 200 miles of range in 13 minutes using a 350kW charger.
The naming convention 'Type 01' signifies Jaguar's history of naming significant vehicles ('Type'), zero tailpipe emissions ('0'), and its position as the first model in a new series ('1').
Jaguar aims to blend recognizable past design elements with a new identity, using the Type 01's proportions and silhouette to connect with heritage while its electric platform allows for a re-evaluation of form and architecture.
The vehicle's development was showcased in New York, featuring an aluminum representation of its initial design line and an 'Impossible Panel' highlighting the engineering challenges of its complex body shape. Tire marks from testing also indicated extensive development and validation for its driving characteristics.
