Grand Ji Hotel Debuts at Paris Design Week
H World has launched its premium hotel brand, Grand Ji Hotel, in Hangzhou, China, with a design philosophy centered on symbolic ritual and enhancing guest experience. The brand made its debut at Paris Design Week as an official annual partner.

The hotel's design, led by Kuang Ming (Ray) Chou, draws inspiration from Taoist concepts, aiming for a 'quiet yet possessed of presence' aesthetic rather than overt luxury. The design focuses on integrating arrival, dining, resting, and departure into a seamless system.
Upon arrival, guests are greeted with a tea ceremony instead of a traditional check-in desk. Technology is subtly integrated, allowing phone-based room keys and voice-controlled room features like curtains and air conditioning.
The design incorporates five Eastern motifs: water (flow, calmness), clouds (lightness), tea (zen), mountains (depth), and pine (resilience). Bricks made from compressed tea leaves are used in the entrance wall, introducing scent.
H World stated that this marks the first time a Chinese hotel brand has participated in Paris Design Week under its own name, signifying a shift towards leading in design rather than just scale.
The participation highlights the growing influence of the Chinese hotel industry in the international design arena. H World Group is one of the largest hotel groups globally, with over 13,000 hotels across 21 countries.
