TP223 Capacitive Touch Sensor for Projects

The TP223 capacitive touch sensor module offers an alternative to traditional mechanical switches, allowing for touch-activated controls in electronic projects.

These inexpensive modules can function through materials like plastic, glass, or wood, enabling custom front panel designs. Sensitivity can be adjusted by the thickness of the material above the sensor, the size of the touch pad, or by adding an external capacitor.

The TP223 consumes less than 2 microamps at rest, making it suitable for battery-powered applications.

Configuration is achieved by soldering two jumpers, offering four distinct states: default high output on touch, inverted output, toggle output on press, or a combination of toggling with an inverted default state.

To mitigate false triggers, a small capacitor can be added to filter the module's power supply.

The sensors are suggested as easy additions for 3D printed designs and could potentially be adapted for use as power switches.
