Frida Escobedo Studio to Design MALBA Museum Expansion

MALBA announced an underground expansion by Taller Frida Escobedo to double exhibition space. The project aims to enhance the museum's city connection and accommodate its growing collection.

The expansion beneath Plaza Perú, opening late 2029/early 2030, includes new halls, auditorium, and offices. Taller Frida Escobedo, known for cultural projects, will lead the design.

The project seeks to transform the museum's urban relationship and experience, partly due to the recent acquisition of the Daros Latinamerica Collection.

The underground design extends beneath the plaza without reducing park area, giving MALBA a new urban dimension and activating the plaza.
