Future NFL Stadium Designs Revealed

Several upcoming NFL stadium projects are set to redefine the league's architecture, with a trend towards enclosed designs featuring glass roofs and integrated auxiliary developments. Two new builds and two major overhauls are highlighted.

The Jacksonville Jaguars' Everbank Stadium will be renovated by HOK, transforming its open-bowl structure into a "Stadium of the Future" by 2028. The design includes a new facade with mirrored elements and LED screens, an overhang, and subtropical landscaping to manage the climate.

Scheduled for 2030, the Washington Commanders' new stadium at RFK Campus, designed by HKS, will feature a classical-modern aesthetic with a glass roof, columns, and plinth. It aims to frame views of national landmarks and include a stadium district.

HOK is also renovating the Carolina Panthers' Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte by 2030. This project will maintain an open structure but add a new crown element and glass-clad base, along with plazas and park-like spaces.

The Kansas City Chiefs' new stadium, designed by Manica and HTNB for 2031, will pay homage to Arrowhead Stadium with a red facade and a glass-covered, anti-clastic roof. It will be located away from the urban core, with parking tailored for tailgating.
