Five anti-AI designs that give an element of control back to humans

As artificial intelligence becomes more prevalent, designers are creating innovative solutions to counter its more concerning applications, such as surveillance and deepfake scams. These designs aim to restore a degree of human control in an increasingly AI-driven world.

Simon Weckert's Digital Camouflage shirt uses bold patterns, developed through an "adversarial loop" with AI, to make wearers undetectable by AI video surveillance systems. This design was inspired by a pilot project for AI video surveillance at Berlin's Kottbusser Tor station.

Quartz, a concept ring by Modem and Retinaa, uses finger-vein biometrics, near-field communication, and cryptography to verify human identity through a handshake, aiming to combat AI deepfake impersonations. The technology would need miniaturization and power optimization for a wearable device.
