Farshid Moussavi Awarded 2026 Soane Medal

British-Iranian architect Farshid Moussavi has received the 2026 Soane Medal for her significant contributions to architecture through her practice, teaching, and writing.

Moussavi, founder of Farshid Moussavi Architects and a professor at Harvard University Graduate School of Design, is the 10th recipient of the award, established in 2017. The jury cited her "sustained and rigorous inquiry" and her approach to design, emphasizing attentiveness and humility in the face of uncertainty about how buildings will be used or perceived.

Her notable projects include the Ismaili Center in Houston and the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland. She also designed Victoria Beckham's flagship store in London and the Harrods Toy Department.

Moussavi previously co-founded Foreign Office Architects, completing the Yokohama International Port Terminal in 2002.

The Soane Medal, awarded by the Sir John Soane's Museum, recognizes architecture's importance in people's lives. Moussavi expressed that the recognition is meaningful due to the museum founder's understanding of architecture's connection to surrounding objects, histories, and ideas.
