Fanless PC Build Faces Cooling Challenges

A builder attempted to create a silent, fanless PC for gaming, but encountered significant cooling and noise issues.

The project involved constructing a PC case from a block of aluminum, integrating a flex ATX power supply and motherboard with passive cooling to the aluminum. Three radiators were stacked horizontally above the motherboard, plumbed with soldered copper piping and featuring gauges for water pressure and temperature.

During testing, the pressure gauge produced a noticeable racket, and the stacked radiators proved insufficient for cooling the PC components, hindering the goal of silent gaming.

Despite these setbacks, the aluminum block effectively cooled the motherboard and GPU. The issues were largely resolved by adding a 120mm fan between two radiators and removing the noisy pressure gauge, resulting in a quiet and aesthetically pleasing living room PC.
