Eye-D Badge Offers Customizable Display

A new electronic badge, dubbed the Eye-D badge, offers a more engaging alternative to traditional conference name tags.

The Eye-D badge utilizes an ESP32-C6 microcontroller with wireless connectivity, driving an 8x16 matrix of WS2812B addressable RGB LEDs to create a 128-pixel color display.

Bluetooth Low Energy allows the display to be controlled via smartphone, tablet, or laptop, enabling users to show their name, social handle, or custom messages.

The badge can also display animations, such as a scanning eye, Nyan Cat, or fire and Matrix-style effects. A 'Draw Mode' permits users to create their own pixel art.

The project features a custom 3D-printed enclosure housing the LEDs, microcontroller, and battery, complete with a loop for hanging.

The creator aimed for the build to resemble a professional conference badge rather than a novelty item.
