ESA and Pokémon Collaborate for Space Exploration Exhibition

The European Space Agency (ESA) and The Pokémon Company International (TPCI) are launching a collaboration for World Space Week 2026, aiming to inspire interest in space exploration across Europe.

A Pikachu plush toy traveled to the International Space Station, spending 67 days in orbit during ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot’s mission. This event is part of the collaboration.

The initiative includes a temporary exhibition at ESA sites and museums across Europe, focusing on space activities and featuring Pokémon characters. Exclusive merchandise and a special Pokémon GO event are also planned.

The exhibition will blend scientific content with visual storytelling, explaining Europe's space missions, astronaut support, solar studies, and exploration of the solar system and universe.

The exhibition will debut at ESA Open Days in September and October 2026, followed by appearances at various European venues until April 2027, including major science museums and festivals.

Exclusive ESA x Pokémon merchandise, including apparel and collectibles, will be available through ESA, Pokémon, and museum retail channels.

A Pokémon GO in-game activation, running from October 2026 to April 2027, will allow players visiting participating museums to engage in space-themed gameplay, including encounters with Astronaut Pikachu.
