Tomas Bata University Showcases Diverse Student Projects

Tomas Bata University in Zlín's Faculty of Multimedia Communications is presenting a range of student projects, highlighting innovation across various design disciplines.

Projects include a low-profile leather lounge chair with CNC-bent steel legs, designed for ergonomic comfort. Another featured work is an experimental website exploring free speech using generative graphics and advanced interactions.

A fashion collection titled 'In Shades of Blue' utilizes natural indigo dye, reinterpreting traditional East Asian dyeing techniques with contemporary silhouettes and patterns.

Other showcased items include reflective accessories made from leather and reflective fabric, a short animated film about time management, and jewellery pieces that explore magnetism and interactive play.

The university's design education has roots dating back to 1939, with the faculty now comprising fourteen studios and offering programs in industrial, product, fashion, jewellery, graphic, and digital design, among others.

Many studios collaborate with companies and institutions, integrating students into real-world projects that blend creative practice with theory and professional experience.

The 'ModificAI' project is an ongoing research initiative exploring how generative AI can transform product conception and development, examining the relationship between human creativity and AI as a creative partner.
