Hanoi Kindergarten Features Elliptical Classrooms and Courtyard

Nghia Do Kindergarten in Hanoi, designed by Sunjin Vietnam Joint Venture Company, is organized around a central courtyard to create an open space within the city's dense urban environment.

The 5,302 sqm kindergarten accommodates 20 classrooms for approximately 600 children. A large central playground is surrounded by classroom blocks, forming a protective ring that buffers the school from external noise and traffic.

Elliptical classroom volumes are arranged around a triangular courtyard. Their orientation and spacing facilitate natural cross-ventilation, and the curved geometry allows teachers to observe the playground. Curved corridors also offer changing views for children.

The elliptical classrooms provide flexible interiors, and each module includes both adult and child-sized entrances. The smaller doors are designed to prioritize children's needs and independence.

A multicolored louver system wraps the corridors, reducing solar radiation and noise while allowing ample daylight. These louvers cast dynamic patterns of color and shadow throughout the day.

The roof incorporates planted areas and a play zone, extending the school's green space. The design emphasizes outdoor space, daylight, ventilation, and visual connection.
