Dyson's first toothbrush uses a camera to floss while you brush

Dyson has launched its first dental hygiene product, the Dyson CameraJet electric toothbrush, which integrates brushing, flossing, and mouth-washing into a single device. The toothbrush features a camera-guided mouthwash jet designed to remove plaque from between teeth.

The Dyson CameraJet utilizes a macro-lens camera near the brush head to track teeth and identify gaps, which are then sprayed with mouthwash. This feature aims to replace traditional flossing, addressing the reported issue that a significant portion of people do not floss regularly.

James Dyson stated that flossing is often perceived as an awkward and time-consuming chore. Dyson's research indicated that people frequently miss the areas between teeth where plaque accumulates. The CameraJet's system was trained on 470,000 dental images and uses an AI-powered algorithm to capture 28 images per second for tracking teeth and predicting gaps.

The device dispenses mouthwash in a conical spray from a 12.5-milliliter tank, which has an "anti-gravity" capability allowing it to spray even when inverted. The tank can be refilled quickly from a docking station. Dyson has also developed its own non-foaming toothpaste and mouthwash specifically for use with the CameraJet to avoid obstructing the camera.
