Compasso d’Oro International Design Award 2027 Opens Submissions

The Compasso d’Oro International Design Award 2027 is now accepting entries until January 20, 2027. Organized by ADI in collaboration with BIE, the award focuses on the theme ‘Design for Humanity at Play’ and invites submissions for projects developed between January 2023 and December 2026.

The competition challenges designers to explore how design can foster connection, participation, and resilience through play, interpreted via three lenses: ‘Power of Play’ (health, wellbeing, sustainability), ‘Play for Progress’ (scientific and creative discovery), and ‘Play Together’ (community building through sport and music).

Projects can be submitted across categories including living, lighting, food, communication, and social innovation, with a focus on anchoring solutions in shared human experience.

This initiative continues a tradition of Compasso d’Oro exhibitions linked to World Expos, supported by a ten-year agreement between ADI and BIE.

An international jury will select projects for 20 Compasso d’Oro awards and up to 50 honourable mentions on May 24, 2027. Three International Career Awards will also be presented.

Selected finalists will be exhibited at Expo 2027 Belgrade in a dedicated pavilion from May to August 2027.

Awarded works will permanently join the ADI Compasso d’Oro Historical Collection at the ADI Design Museum in Milan, creating an enduring legacy.
