Self-Hosted Proxy Compresses Web Content to Save Mobile Data

A self-hosted HTTPS proxy has been developed to compress images and websites, block ads, and conserve mobile data by reducing webpage sizes.

The proxy, built using mitmproxy, focuses on reducing image sizes by converting them to .webp format and lowering resolution, suitable for mobile screens. Users can configure the acceptable quality loss.

It also offers a high compression setting for all webpages, though this may increase loading times. The proxy acts as a private VPN, enhancing data protection when used on the go.

This project specifically aims to save data and does not assist older hardware in accessing the internet, unlike services like FrogFind or MacProxy.
