Local Local Reworks Athens Apartment into Studio
Greek practice Local Local has transformed a ground-floor apartment in Athens' Kolonaki neighborhood into its first permanent studio, employing subtle interventions to preserve the original character of the space.

The studio's design prioritized non-structural changes. Interventions included repairing and lightening original wooden floors, painting walls white, restoring rippled-glass doors, and keeping the arched entrance. The L-shaped layout features a main workspace and a meeting room, formerly a bedroom.
Furniture combines existing pieces with custom designs. A cypress table inspired a large co-working table and window-facing workstations, using wood and Formica. Existing office chairs were retained alongside new pieces.
A Vitsoe shelving system displays the architect's library. Michael Anastassiades ceiling lights illuminate the workspace, and a custom perforated metal frame acts as a pinboard.
At the entrance, two marble sculptures by Theodore Psychoyos serve as a console and seating area. The meeting room's original wardrobe was adapted for open storage using roll-up blinds.
The studio's design emphasizes the use of existing architectural elements, reused furniture, custom pieces, and restrained material choices to create a workspace that reflects the original apartment's character.
