Custom Hinge for Motorbike Fuel Access Panel

Modifying a motorbike can require creative solutions for common issues, such as accessing the fuel cap after extending the fuel tank.

To address this, a hidden access panel with a custom hinge was designed for the KRTframework motorbike to maintain its clean aesthetic. A 3D scanner was used to capture precise measurements of the modified bodywork, which included the new access panel.

A suitable hinge mechanism proved challenging to find, leading to the creation of a custom design. A 3D-printed part was developed to bridge the gap between the opening and the fuel tank, incorporating a push-to-open latch.

Concerns were raised in the comments about the panel potentially opening accidentally. However, the hinge design appears well-received for fitting within the available space and providing ample travel for good fuel cap access.
