GenCork Launches Customizable Cork Wall Cladding

Portuguese brand GenCork has introduced a new wall cladding made from sustainable cork, featuring algorithmically generated 3D designs.

The cork wall utilizes the Corkvectors algorithm, blending natural and geometric patterns to create a unique 3D surface. Cork is a renewable material harvested without harming trees, allowing for forest regeneration.

GenCork's expanded black cork is produced using a zero-waste process, where steam from waste biomass bonds the material with its natural resin. This process also imparts a rich, dark brown color.

The panels are CNC milled for precise relief. The computational design system allows for customization of patterns based on wall dimensions and other parameters.

Beyond aesthetics, the cork cladding offers strong thermal and acoustic insulation properties.
